Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Moussa Sissoko has responded well to the criticism directed towards him by working hard in training.

The France international, who joined Spurs from Newcastle United on a club-record £30m deal in the summer, is yet to make an impact at the north London club.

Sissoko was left out of Tottenham’s squad for their Premier League game against Chelsea last weekend, with the midfielder later coming in for heavy criticism from Pochettino.

The Argentine manager suggested that despite the hefty price-tag, Sissoko needs to show that he deserves to be in the team by doing well in training and in matches.

And Pochettino, who admitted that Sissoko has given a response on the training pitch, however, insisted that he will decide about the 27-year-old’s involvement in Spurs’ upcoming games.

“His answer was good this week”, he said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“I am happy with the answer from him, he is training very hard and then it’s up to me to decide if he will be involved or not like always.”

Sissoko, who is yet to score or provide an assist for Spurs, has thus far clocked up 461 minutes over 10 appearances in all competitions for the north London club.
