Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has ruled out the possibility of searching for a replacement for injured midfielder Santi Cazorla during the January transfer window.

The Spanish midfielder has been out action since mid-October with a foot injury and it emerged on Thursday that he will undergo surgery soon to repair the damage, which means he will be out for three more months.

With the midfielder out for months, there were suggestions that Wenger could move to sign a player in January to plug the gap in his squad, but the Arsenal boss has ruled out that option.

The Frenchman believes he has the adequate number of quality midfielders in his squad to counter Cazorla’s absence and he also feels in the January transfer window, he might not find a player of the Spaniard’s quality in the market.

Asked if he will move to sign a replacement for Cazorla, Wenger said in a press conference: “No, not really.

“Number one, I think we have the numbers and the quality in midfield.

"And secondly in the January transfer window you won’t find a Cazorla easily.”

With little less than a month left before the window opens, it remains to be seen whether Wenger has targets in mind for January in order to strengthen his squad.
