Feyenoord defender Jan-Arie van der Heijden has insisted that he is not afraid to face any of the Pogba brothers.

The 28-year-old defender has been one of the key players for Feyenoord this season and has already clocked up 21 appearances for the club.

Van der Heijden came up against Manchester United’s Paul Pogba in the Europa League and while Feyenoord won their opening group game at De Kuip, the Dutchman and his fellow players suffered a chastening 4-0 loss at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture.

The defender is now preparing to face Paul’s elder brother Mathias Pogba when Feyenoord host Sparta Rotterdam at De Kuip on Sunday in an Eredivisie clash.

And while Van der Heijden admits that there is a huge difference in stature between Paul and Mathias, the defender is not afraid to take on either of the Pogba brothers.

The Dutchman was quoted as saying by ELF Football: “It’s always fun to play against these players, but obviously there is a big difference between facing Paul and Mathias.

“I am certainly not afraid of any of the Pogbas whatsoever.”

Mathias, a centre forward unlike his brother, joined Sparta Rotterdam from Partick Thistle this summer and struggled with a muscle injury before returning to the pitch against Roda JC last weekend.
