Liverpool legend Ray Houghton feels Bournemouth are a much more creative team when Jack Wilshere is playing.

The Cherries, who will next play the Reds on Sunday, snapped up the midfielder from Arsenal on a season-long loan deal in the summer.

Wilshere did not feature in Bournemouth’s 3-1 loss to the Gunners last weekend as he was ineligible to play against his parent club.

However, the England international, who has thus far clocked up 721 minutes over 11 Premier League games for Bournemouth, is expected to start against Liverpool. at Dean Court.

And Houghton thinks Wilshere certainly enhances Bournemouth’s creativity, with the 54-year-old going on to add that he is expecting an exciting contest at Dean Court on Sunday.

“Having watched Bournemouth this season, they are a very attacking team”, he said on LFC TV while previewing the game.

“Last season their problem was defending, they conceded I think 68 goals, but certainly they have done much better in the matches they have played so far [this season].

“They are a team who like to get the ball down, they have Jack Wilshere back, he was missing in the last game against Arsenal.

“But I think him being in the side, give Bournemouth much more creativity.

“If you are a football purist, you will enjoy this game, a lot of excitement, a lot of good football we are going to witness.

“The team who defends better will come out on top.”

Bournemouth have taken 15 points from their opening 13 games this season, leaving the Cherries a substantial 15 points adrift of Liverpool.

The Merseyside giants beat Bournemouth on both occasions in the Premier League last season.
