Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira is ready to play hardball with Manchester United over their desire to sign Victor Lindelof in the January transfer window.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is determined to lay his hands on the Sweden international centre-back when the window swings back open, as he seeks to reinforce his defensive options for the second half of the season.

According to Portuguese sports daily Record, Manchester United are readying an offer of €45m to sign Lindelof, however Vieira wants even more for the defender.

The Benfica supremo wants to increase the release clause in the player's contract to €60m and then demand Manchester United hit that figure if they want to take him to Old Trafford.

Vieira sees Lindelof as one of Benfica's crown jewels and is determined he will not leave the Estadio da Luz on the cheap.
