Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Liverpool goalkepeer Loris Karius is not good enough and looks nervous.

The German goalkeeper, who Jurgen Klopp snapped up from Bundesliga side Mainz in the summer transfer window, gifted Bournemouth a 4-3 win over the Reds in a Premier League fixture at Dean Court on Sunday.

With the game locked at 3-3, he fumbled a shot into the path of Bournemouth star Nathan Ake in injury time, the defender then making no mistake and handing the Cherries a famous 4-3 win.

Neville is not impressed with Karius and dubbed him "not good enough".

Neville said after the game on Sky Sports: "It is tough to win the league without a good goalkeeper, it is tough.

"He's not good enough that goalkeeper.

"You could see actually in his first game – was it against [Manchester] United on a Monday night? He looks nervous and he isn't good enough."

Neville says that Karius may well improve, but he is not yet able to positively affect games in the way Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois can.

"Now he might get better, he might get better, but you watch Courtois yesterday [at Manchester City].

"Courtois is good enough."

Klopp opted to put Karius into the side as first choice goalkeeper ahead of Simon Mignolet.

The Belgian was widely thought to be unlucky to lose his spot after starting the season as number 1, with Karius out through injury.

However, Mignolet will be hoping for another opportunity as Karius struggles.
