Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has aimed a swipe at the press after his side conceded a late penalty to draw 1-1 away against Everton.

The Red Devils could have been down to ten men at Goodison Park after just 15 minutes when Marcos Rojo jumped in two-footed on Idrissa Gueye, but the referee opted against a red card.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic then gave the visitors the lead in the 42nd minute as he ran on to a ball and lobbed the Everton goalkeeper, with his effort sensationally hitting the bar and the post before crossing the line.

Manchester United pushed for a second in the second half and Ander Herrera saw an effort hit the bar.

Everton started to work their way into the match however and with just minutes left substitute Marouane Fellaini bundled over Gueye in the penalty area, leaving the referee pointing at the spot.

Leighton Baines stepped up and fired past David de Gea, rescuing a point for Everton.

Mourinho was quick to voice his concern after the game, but not at his side's performances, which he believes are good.

"I am concerned because we don't get the results we deserve", Mourinho said in his post match press conference.

"I know that when my teams win matches playing a different style of football then in that moment all that matters is the style of football, not the results.

"You have in this moment teams in the Premier League teams playing defensive and counter-attack football but getting results."

And he added: "It's a problem for us that we are not getting what we deserve, and it's a problem for us that we have a position in the table that has no relation with the quality of football we are showing."

Mourinho also took a swipe at the media coverage of his side, saying the press must make up their mind over whether they want to see good football or instead put results as the most important thing.

"You have to make a decision because when my teams are playing pragmatic football and winning matches and winning titles, you say that it is not right and nice.

"When my teams like now, they play very, very well, and there is a huge change to the past two or three years, now you say what matters is to get results, it doesn't matter what", he said.

"At this moment in the Premier League we have teams getting results that defend with eleven players, kick the ball and attack the space in the counter-attack.

"It's phenomenal, it's beautiful. So we have to make a decision, we have to make a decision. And yes, we have to score more goals. If Herrera, instead of hitting the post, makes it 2-0, then goodbye. Result."

Manchester United are nine points off a top four spot, sitting in sixth place in the Premier League standings.
