Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has revealed that if he could add one player to the Reds' squad from their Premier League rivals he would pick Manchester United custodian David de Gea.

Carragher saw Liverpool collapse defensively away at Bournemouth on Sunday to lose 4-3 and question marks have been raised over new Reds goalkeeper Loris Karius.

The former Liverpool defender believes that the Reds would vastly benefit from having a world-class goalkeeper between the sticks as they aim to fight for the Premier League title this season.

And asked on a Sky Sports Facebook Monday Night Football video what player he would add to Liverpool's squad from any other side in the Premier League if given the opportunity, Carragher settled on De Gea.

He also noted the heroics of Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, but ultimately picked De Gea, arguing the Spaniard would suit the way Reds boss Jurgen Klopp likes to play.

"De Gea or Courtois", Carragher said.

"I'd probably go for De Gea because I think he's been the best goalkeeper [in the Premier League].

"You could argue he's been the best goalkeeper in world football.

"I don't think he's had his best season this season, but over the three or four year period he's been at Man United he's been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

"I think Courtois dropped off last season; his first season was outstanding.

"He made big saves at the weekend and he is a top 'keeper", Carragher continued.

"I think De Gea is really good with his feet as well and Jurgen Klopp wants his 'keepers to be like that.

"He would suit Liverpool the most."

Carragher however admitted there is little chance of Liverpool being able to snap up De Gea from their biggest domestic rivals.
