Tom Boyd believes the present Celtic crop is the most confident Hoops squad he has seen in recent years.

The Scottish champions, who came from behind twice to beat Motherwell 4-3 in the league on Saturday, have been in tremendous form domestically in the present campaign.

Besides being comfortably atop the Scottish Premiership table, Brendan Rodgers’ team have also managed to win the Scottish League Cup; Celtic are yet to lose a domestic game this season.

As a result, Boyd feels Celtic were confident about coming back against the Steelmen, despite finding themselves heading into the half-time break at Fir Park two goals down.

And the 51-year-old, who turned out for Celtic between 1992 and 2003, is of the opinion that the level of confidence the Bhoys have shown this season has been missing for the past few years.

“It was a challenging game for the boys”, Boyd told Celtic TV.

“But even when it went to 2-0, the manner in which we have been playing, we had that air of confidence that we would come back.

“It [that confidence] probably has not been here for a good few years. It’s just the way we have been playing this year.

“The domination in the second half, the ability of the players and their qualities [were great].”

Celtic are presently eight points clear at the top of the league table with three games in hand.
