Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham Hotspur are sending a message of support to Erik Lamela, who has had to travel back to Argentina due to personal issues.

Lamela has recently been out with an injury, which Spurs have been trying to resolve, however he has now jetted out of the United Kingdom to return to his native Argentina.

Pochettino explained that Lamela has an issue with his brother and insists that Spurs are sending messages of support to the winger.

The Tottenham manager said in a press conference before his side's Champions League group stage clash against CSKA Moscow at Wembley: "Erik Lamela is still out and it’s important to send our support because he has a problem with his family in Argentina and he travelled to Argentina last night.

"We want to send our big support to him and his family", the Argentine tactician continued.

"He has a problem with his brother, we hope that it’s not too serious but it’s an issue where he needed to go to Argentina."

In the current campaign Lamela has notched up a total of 14 appearances across all competitions for Spurs, scoring two goals and providing his team-mates with an impressive seven assists.

It is unclear when Pochettino will again be able to call on the 24-year-old winger.
