Cambridge United manager Shaun Derry believes that his club have got their wish to face a big club in the third round of the FA Cup when they were drawn against Leeds United.

The draw for the third round of the FA Cup was conducted on Monday night and Cambridge United were drawn to host the Championship’s Leeds United next month at the Abbey Stadium.




The League Two side decimated Coventry in the second round of the competition to find their place in the third round draw and Derry admits that they wanted to face one of the big clubs in the next round.

And the Cambridge United boss admits that in Leeds they have got their wish to host a big club at the Abbey Stadium and believes it was a perfect draw for his side in the third round of the competition.
 


Derry told BBC Radio Leeds: “When we got through the [second] round on Saturday after playing really well against Coventry, we were just hoping for a big club.

“You always want a big club in round three and we sure got a big club, we got a massive club.

“We are delighted as this is a perfect draw for everybody.”

Leeds made it to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup this season, where they lost to Liverpool, and are currently fourth in the Championship table.
