Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor believes there will be a response from the Reds against West Ham United on Sunday, following their shock 4-3 loss to Bournemouth at the weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s team, who were cruising towards bagging the full three points against the Cherries, suffered their second loss of the season in all competitions, despite being 3-1 up by the 75th minute at the Vitality Stadium.

However, Mellor thinks Klopp will not dwell on the disappointing defeat as he backed Liverpool to provide an apt response against the Hammers at Anfield on Sunday.

“I think Jurgen Klopp’s not a person, who will dwell or feel sorry for ourselves for that result”, he said on LFC TV.

“I think there will be a response against West Ham at Anfield next weekend.”

The loss at Bournemouth put an end to Liverpool’s 15-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

And Mellor feels the Merseyside giants can go on another unbeaten run such as they did after their loss to Burnley in August.

“We have been on a superb run, we have been absolutely outstanding”, he continued.

“We had an unbeaten run after being beaten by Burnley.

“We have just been beaten by Bournemouth, so let’s hope for another decent response.”

Following the loss against Bournemouth, Liverpool dropped down to third place in the league with 30 points from 14 games, four adrift of leaders Chelsea.

While Liverpool lost at Bournemouth at the weekend, West Ham were drubbed 5-1 by London rivals Arsenal.
