Young Leeds United defender Matthew Downing has revealed his disappointment following his side’s loss to Hull City Under-18s last night in the FA Youth Cup.

Downing and his team-mates threw away a two-goal advantage in the final few minutes of the game and allowed Hull City to force the third round clash into extra time by conceding two late goals.

And Robbie McKenzie’s looping header in the 103rd minute turned out to be the winner as Hull pulled off a dramatic Youth Cup win after trailing Leeds for the majority of normal time.

Downing admits that Leeds threw away the game in a disappointing manner, but feels his team-mates gave everything they had to get a positive result in the cup game.

The youngster thanked the handful of Leeds fans who turned up to support the Under-18s in the Youth Cup clash.
