Mauricio Pochettino is keen to see his Tottenham Hotspur side beat CSKA Moscow tonight as he is unwilling to blame Wembley for their Champions League heartache this season.

With White Hart Lane not fit to host Europe’s elite club competition at the moment, Tottenham opted to play their Champions League home games at Wembley this season, but England’s national stadium has been unkind to Spurs so far.

Both Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen inflicted painful defeats on Tottenham at Wembley, contributing to them crashing out of the Champions League and they need at least a draw against CSKA Moscow to be in the Europa League.

Pochettino stressed the importance of the game against the Russians for Tottenham’s season in Europe, but most importantly he feels his side need the win tonight as he is not keen to pin the blame on Wembley for their poor performances in the Champions League.

When asked about the importance of the game, Pochettino told Spurs TV: “It’s important for us because we want to be involved in the Europa League and it’s important for the club.

“And then most importantly we need to show that we can win at Wembley and make it our home; we cannot blame Wembley because we didn’t play well in the last two games against Monaco and Leverkusen.

“It was our performance, it was our responsibility and now we need to take responsibility and try to win the game; make Wembley our home.”

Tottenham just need a point against CSKA Moscow to ensure that their European journey continues in the Europa League last 32 this season.
