Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton feels his Leeds United counterpart Garry Monk has been successfully putting his stamp on Elland Road.

The Whites, who appointed Monk as their new manager in the summer, replacing Steve Evans, will next face the Seagulls at the Amex on Friday.

Leeds have been in good form in the present campaign and presently find themselves in fourth spot in the Championship table with 32 points from 19 games, just seven points and two places adrift of Brighton.

And Hughton, who thinks Leeds are currently enjoying one of their best periods in recent years, is of the opinion that the Yorkshire giants are a very stable outfit at the moment.

The 57-year-old went on to add that Monk is creating and moulding his team at Leeds, such as he did at his previous club Swansea City.

“I think they’ve been excellent”, Hughton said in his pre-match praise conference on Wednesday.

“We’ve all followed the Leeds of the last few seasons and the changes, but one thing that’s never changed is that Leeds is a very difficult place to visit.

“They’ve got a fanatical crowd, a big stadium and they travel with a big crowd, so there’s always been this feel about Leeds, and everyone has been waiting for them to reach the levels they’ve had in the past.

“This is one of their best periods and I think they’ve got a lot of stability in the team at the moment.

“They’ve got an excellent manager who’s managed at the top level.

“He created a team at Swansea, even though others contributed before him, but he’s very much putting his stamp on the team [at Leeds] now.”

Leeds, who beat Aston Villa 2-0 last weekend, lost both of their league clashes against Brighton in the 2015/16 campaign.
