Arsene Wenger is unwilling to speak too much about Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s contract situation at Arsenal, but is confident that the pair will give their all while they are at the Emirates.

The Arsenal duo have 18 months left on their contract and there has been talk for some time now that the Gunners are pushing to tie them down to new long term deals.

However, the north Londoners have so far failed to agree terms with the pair’s representatives and there have been rumblings that both Sanchez and Ozil could leave the Gunners over their contract standoff.

The Frenchman feels 18 months is a long time in football and while he has indicated that Arsenal are keen to see the duo sign new long term deals, he remains unwilling to discuss the background details.

Wenger said in a press conference: “They have 18 months' contract and they are completely committed to do well when they are here.

“Beyond that we will try to extend their contract, but I cannot make a subject of that in every press conference because it is a normal part of every renewal.

“The less you talk about it, the better it is.”

The Arsenal boss is also aware that Ozil and Sanchez are not short of suitors who would be willing to offer exorbitant amounts of money to them to snare them away from the Emirates.

“I believe that we live in a world where the money for great players like Sanchez and Ozil, they have a privilege to be able to choose where they want to play.”

Asked if he is willing to break Arsenal's wage structure to keep the duo, Wenger said: “We will do the maximum we can for every single player.”
