Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson believes that everyone is taking the Whites seriously after their win over Aston Villa last weekend.

Garry Monk’s team, who had a stuttering start to the season, beat the Villains 2-0 at Elland Road last Saturday to move up to fourth spot in the Championship table.

And Jansson insisted that while the Leeds team always believed in themselves, the fans and people outside the club are now taking the Yorkshire giants seriously too.

The Sweden international went on to add that the win over Aston Villa, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, showed how good a team Leeds are.

“It was really important. We won 2-0 against a very good team, Aston Villa, who played in the Premier League last year”, he said in a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

Leeds, who have been out of the top flight since being relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2003/04 campaign, presently have 32 points from 19 games.

The Whites will next play second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion in an away Championship fixture on Friday.
