Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has thanked the fans for their support during his side’s 3-1 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Despite knowing that Spurs had no chance of reaching the next round of the Champions League, the supporters flocked in numbers to Wembley to watch their side play.

After Alan Dzagoev put CSKA Moscow in front in the 33rd minute, Dele Alli equalised for the hosts five minutes later before Harry Kane struck in first half injury time.

Goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev then put the ball inside his own net after failing to parry away Alli’s header in the 77th minute as Spurs comfortably won the contest in the end and booked their place in the Round of 32 of the Europa League.

And Pochettino insisted that so many fans coming to support their team even after knowing they are already out of the Champions League shows how big a club Tottenham are.

“First of all I want to say ‘thank-you’ to our supporters”, he said on Spurs TV.

“This shows how big our club are.

“I know they all feel disappointed after Monaco and for us, it’s the same, so it was great to see 62,000 fans here, that’s fantastic.”

Tottenham will next play Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
