Stoke City are set to rekindle their interest in Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini during the January transfer window, it has been claimed.

The Italian international was widely linked with a move away from the San Paolo in the summer too, with Everton and Stoke believed to be chasing him, but Gabbiadini opted to stay in Italy.

However, there are murmurs that there could be a different outcome in January and according to Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport, the forward is inching closer towards an exit door at Napoli.

It has been claimed that Stoke are set to rekindle their chase for the Italy international and are expected to make a move for the striker during the winter window.

However, they could face competition from Germany with Bundesliga outfits Schalke and Wolfsburg also keeping a close watch on developments at the San Paolo.

Napoli are expected to listen to offers for the 25-year-old next month and are hoping to pocket a transfer fee of around €20m from his sale in the winter window.

Gabbiadini has not been in great goalscoring touch this season and has hit the back of the net just twice this season.

He has a contract until 2019 with Napoli.
