Rangers defender Danny Wilson admits that it has been frustrating for him to be in and out of the team frequently this season and he is keen to cement his spot in Mark Warburton’s eleven soon.

The defender has struggled to hold down his place in Warburton’s starting eleven and being dropped down to the bench in their win over Aberdeen last weekend was emblematic of his season so far.

After being out of the team for a while, Wilson returned to the starting eleven in their win over Partick Thistle last month, but a poor performance against Hearts last week cost him his place against the Dons at the weekend.

Wilson has indicated that he feels unlucky at being left out against Aberdeen as he believes the whole team performed badly against Hearts, but the defender remains keen to show his worth and cement his place in the Rangers side in the upcoming games.

Asked about his feeling after being dropped to the bench last weekend, the defender said on the Rangers Podcast: “Yes, it has been frustrating.

“I felt after the game against Hearts that it was a poor performance in general, but the manager made changes on the back of that.

“I was one of them who was left out and it was disappointing.

“I am trying to win my place back and hopefully stay in the team.”

Wilson has made 12 appearances for Rangers in all competitions this season.
