Sampdoria are making plans in the event that Chelsea choose to meet the release clause in striker Luis Muriel's contract.

Chelsea boss Conte is keen on Muriel and has been claimed to be eyeing a swoop for the Colombia international as he looks to increase his attacking options for the second half of the campaign.

Sampdoria do not want to play ball with Chelsea or Valencia, who are also keen, but if Muriel's €28m release clause is hit, the Serie A side can do nothing to prevent his departure.

As such, according to Italian outlet Fantagazzetta, the Genoa-based club are looking at potential replacements.

Sampdoria have already put two names on their list in the shape of Inter striker Eder and Sassuolo forward Gregoire Defrel.

Sassuolo snapped Defrel up from fellow Italian side Cesena in 2015 and despite being French, the 25-year-old has played all his senior football in Italy.

Eder meanwhile left Sampdoria for Inter in the 2016 winter transfer window and signed a contract with the club running until 2020.
