Chelsea Under-23 boss Adi Viveash has admitted that his side initially found it difficult to get going against a physical Manchester United team in a Premier League 2 game on Friday night.

The young Blues, who ultimately won the contest 3-1, fell behind in the 19th minute through Axel Tuanzebe’s header.

But Chelsea slowly got back into the game and Dujon Sterling scored the equaliser in the 30th minute after Jay Dasilva saw his penalty saved.

Josimar Quintero then put Chelsea in front in the 52nd minute before Jacob Maddox’s goal in injury time rounded off the scoring for the night.

And Viveash, who acknowledged that Manchester United dominated proceedings early on, thinks it was a good game at Aldershot.

“It was a very good game of football to be fair”, he told Chelsea TV after the game.

“Quite a contrast in the two teams, Manchester United have obviously got a lot of physical power, they are a really big team when you look at them.

“But on paper we thought the game was going to be decided in the midfield areas.

“And to be fair to them, the first 15 minutes they dominated there.

"They got the goal and it was a difficult opening period for us.”

Following the win, Chelsea moved up to fifth spot in the Premier League 2 table with 18 points from 12 games, five behind leaders Everton, who have a game in hand.
