Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Della Valle has dealt Chelsea's hopes of signing Federico Bernardeschi a blow by revealing the club hope to tie him to a new contract.

Chelsea have been linked with being keen on the 22-year-old winger, while within Italy AC Milan and Inter are also attentive to his situation.




But Della Valle claims that Fiorentina are looking to sign Bernardeschi to a new deal, as they seek to make sure all their top players are committed to the project for the long term.

"We want to lock down all our best players", he explained at a media event held for the club's youth section.
 


"From Bernardeschi on to others", he added.

Bernardeschi is a product of Fiorentina's youth system and made the breakthrough to the senior ranks in 2013.

The wide-man has progressed over the course of 2016 and as a result has been rewarded with a spot in the senior Italy squad after representing the country at various youth levels.

The Fiorentina star made his Italy debut in March and was included in the Italy squad at Euro 2016 under now Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
