Everton have made first contact with Feyenoord over the possibility of signing their defender Terence Kongolo, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

The Toffees, who beat Arsenal 2-1 on Tuesday night to move up to seventh spot in the Premier League, have thus far conceded 20 goals in 16 league outings this season, the joint-highest amongst the top seven clubs in the division.




As a result, Everton are keen to shore up their defence and have identified Kongolo as a possible January recruit.

The Netherlands international, who has progressed through Feyenoord’s youth system, has so far made 18 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch outfit in the present campaign, helping them to keep eight clean sheets.
 


Everton have already initiated contact with Feyenoord regarding the possibility of roping in the centre-back, whose present contract with the Eredivisie club runs until 2018, during the winter transfer window.

Kongolo, who was on the radar of Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion in the summer, has three caps for the Netherlands to his name.

The 22-year-old has thus far amassed 125 appearances for Feyenoord, and besides helping the club’s defence, he has also scored three times and set up seven goals.
