Moussa Sissoko says he has needed time to adapt to life at Tottenham Hotspur, in part because the training at the north London club is so different to what he had been used to at Newcastle United.

Spurs splashed out a substantial £30m to take Sissoko from Newcastle in the summer transfer window, beating off competition from fellow Premier League side Everton to land their man.

But the Frenchman has had a slow start at White Hart Lane and boss Mauricio Pochettino publicly criticised him, admitting the midfielder did not deserve to be picked.

Sissoko has knuckled down and featured against Manchester United and Hull, Spurs' last two games, but he admits he has needed time to get used to his new club.

"For me the manager said what he thinks", Sissoko was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.

"For me it was the same, just to come into training and try to give my best.

"I know what I can do for the team. I know what is my level.

"I just needed some time to be ready on everything because it was a big change for me", the France international explained.

"Now I understand everything and everything is better for me and that's good.

"The intensity of the training has been particularly difficult.

"The style of how he wants us to play. A lot of things.

"What we do at the training. It was a lot of change.

"Every manager has his style of training so now I understand everything."

Sissoko will be looking to kick on for Spurs this coming weekend when the north London club play host to Burnley at White Hart Lane.

Burnley have been dire on the road this season, boasting the worst record in the division, with six defeats and one draw from their seven league matches away from Turf Moor.
