The chase for Newcastle United and Lyon target Nicolas Pepe is heating up after Angers received a bid from an unnamed French club for the forward.

Pepe, who has scored twice and set up a goal in 17 appearances in all competitions in the present campaign, has attracted the interest of several clubs.




Besides Lyon, fellow Ligue 1 outfits Monaco, Lille and Saint-Etienne are also keeping tabs on Pepe, with Angers demanding a hefty €10m for the 21-year-old.

The Ivorian, whose present contract with Angers runs until 2019, also has suitors from abroad in the form of Newcastle United, Roma and Juventus.
 


And in the latest development in the saga, an unnamed French club have put forward a bid for Pepe, but it falls short of Angers' valuation of the player, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

As such the offer was refused.

Lyon are set to pursue their interest in Pepe, with Les Gones scheduled to scout the youngster during Angers’ clash with Nantes tonight.

It remains to be seen where Pepe ends up during the upcoming winter transfer window, if indeed he does move.
