Sergio Ramos has criticised his Real Madrid team-mate James Rodriguez for breaking cover over a potential January transfer window move after the club won the Club World Cup.

Rodriguez, who has been linked with Premier League pair Chelsea and Manchester United, went public after the victory with his unhappiness at being left on the bench in the final, while he also revealed he has fielded offers from interested clubs.

And the Colombia international firmly left the door open for a move away from Real Madrid in January.

His comments have not gone down well with Ramos, who feels Rodriguez picked the wrong time to speak about his future, though he also stressed he hopes his team-mate stays.

"It's not a day to talk about personal issues", Ramos was quoted as saying by Portuguese outlet Zero Zero.

"I have special appreciation for him and I hope he stays, but today was not the day for this", the defender added.

Rodriguez has been unhappy at not being selected in the Real Madrid starting eleven on a regular basis by coach Zinedine Zidane.

And his situation at Real Madrid is likely to be being monitored by a number of clubs who would like to welcome him with open arms.
