Manchester United and Chelsea linked James Rodriguez won’t be leaving Real Madrid during the January transfer window, according to Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

The Colombian’s future at Real Madrid has been hanging in the balance since last summer and speculation about his departure from the club further gathered pace following his comments about leaving the Bernabeu this week.

The 25-year-old claimed that he has offers to leave Real Madrid in January and revealed his disappointment at not getting a chance to play in the Club World Cup final on Sunday, insisting that he wants to play more.

Despite all the noise over his future at the club it has been claimed that Real Madrid are not expecting to lose Rodriguez in the January transfer window.

Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Colombian, but Real Madrid feel that the winger won’t be leaving the Santiago Bernabeu this winter.

The Spanish giants are aware that with Rodriguez not playing regularly, his value is only going to fall further in the summer, but they don’t envisage his sale next month.

Rodriguez has made just four starts for Real Madrid in the league this season and has been left frustrated by the lack of opportunities under the stewardship of Zinedine Zidane.

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was not amused by the comments made by Rodriguez and feels the Colombian shouldn’t have talked about his future after just winning the Club World Cup on Sunday.
