Wolfsburg are leading the race for Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, a target for Stoke City and Southampton, while Schalke are also keen as it is rated as 75 per cent likely he will move to the Bundesliga next month.

The Italy international is all but certain to leave Napoli in the winter after briefly flirting with the option of leaving the San Paolo during the summer transfer window.

Everton had been heavily linked with a move for Gabbiadini next month, but the trail to Goodison Park has gone cold in recent weeks.

According to Radio Kiss Kiss, Wolfsburg established contact with Napoli recently over a move for Gabbiadini and even Schalke are prepared to have their say in the transfer chase.

And it has been claimed that despite interest from the Premier League, Gabbiadini is more likely to play in Germany than grace English football in the second half of the season, with him being 75 per cent likely to move to the Bundesliga.

Southampton and Stoke remain interested in Gabbiadini, but it is claimed they have so far been less than insistent with their enquiries over the striker.

The Italy international has a contract until 2019 with Napoli and has not been in the best of form this season, scoring just twice in 16 appearances in all competitions.
