Newcastle United have enquired about the possibility of signing Montpellier schemer Ryad Boudebouz during the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has been on the radar of a number of English clubs over the last few months and has attracted serious interest in the January transfer window.

Premier League clubs such as Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, West Brom and West Ham have been linked with a move for the Algeria star and it seems another English club have joined his queue of admires.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Championship outfit Newcastle United have enquired about Boudebouz, signalling their interest in the attacking midfielder.

Rafael Benitez has seen his team’s form tail off in the last couple of weeks and is keen to add new faces to his squad in order to strengthen their attempts to return to the Premier League this season.

And it seems Boudebouz is one of the players the Spaniard is eyeing bringing in during the January window to boost his options in the second half of the campaign.

However, Montpellier have so far signalled they remain keen to keep him at the club.

The attacking midfielder also has suitors across Europe with club such as AC Milan, Sevilla and Marseille interested in his services.

His contract with Montpellier expires in the summer of 2019.
