Leeds United are working on a deal to keep attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez on a permanent basis, with an initial deal running until the end of the season.

The former Swansea City schemer linked up with Leeds in the summer on a six-month loan deal from Qatari outfit Al Arabi, reuniting with ex-Swans boss Garry Monk.

Hernandez has impressed at Elland Road and now Leeds are looking to tie up his permanent arrival in the current transfer window.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the deal the Whites are working on would see Hernandez sign an initial contract running until the end of the season, with an option to extend to 2018.

The former Valencia star will be 32 years old before the end of the current campaign and an extended deal with Leeds would take him past his 33rd birthday next year.
