Lex Immers rejected an offer from Celtic in order to sign for Club Brugge, it has been claimed.

The 30-year-old parted ways with Championship side Cardiff City earlier this month and wasted little time in finding a new club by agreeing to join Belgian giants Club Brugge.

The forward has agreed to sign a contract running until the summer of 2018 with the Belgian Jupiler League outfit, with an option for a further year to take him to 2019.

And it has emerged that Club Brugge have beaten off serious competition in order to land Immers.

According to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, Immers had offers on the table from Celtic, VfB Stuttgart and FC Utrecht.
