A whopping eleven clubs have been in contact with Mamadou Sakho's representatives over a move away from Liverpool this month, underlining the scale of competition for the defender, who has been linked with Southampton and West Ham United.

Sakho has not managed a single minute of first team football for Liverpool this season after falling out of favour with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp over the summer.

He was given the chance to quit Anfield before the transfer window slammed shut in the summer, but refused to leave and vowed to fight to his way back into Klopp's plans.

Sakho's gambit has failed, but he is not short of options this month.

Indeed, according to French TV programme Telefoot, the defender has had enquiries from no fewer than eleven clubs.
