Chelsea have confirmed they have ended Nathan Ake's loan spell at Bournemouth.

Ake was due to spend the season on loan at the Vitality Stadium, where he had established himself as a key man under Cherries boss Eddie Howe.

However, calls have intensified amongst former Chelsea players in recent weeks for Ake to be recalled to offer cover for Marcos Alonso as left wing-back.

And the Blues have decided to bring Ake back to Stamford Bridge, officially confirming the news on Sunday.

Ake made 12 appearances for Bournemouth in his loan spell on the south coast and further boosted his reputation in the process.

He memorably popped up with Bournemouth's last minute winner in a recent 4-3 victory over Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, which further boosted parent club Chelsea by damaging title rivals.

Ake will now be looking to be involved at Stamford Bridge on a regular basis as he seeks to prove himself under boss Antonio Conte.
