Genoa are set to face disappointment in their interest in Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

The Serie A side have targeted Mannone following an injury to Mattia Perin and were hopeful of thrashing out an agreement with the Black Cats for the former Arsenal man.

But according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Sunderland boss David Moyes has made clear that he will not allow Mannone to move on during the current transfer window.

As such, unless Moyes has a change of heart, Genoa will miss out on signing Mannone and be forced to look elsewhere to address their goalkeeping issue.

Genoa recently suffered a big blow after Perin damaged his cruciate ligament in his left knee. The goalkeeper now needs surgery and is looking at a long recovery period.
