Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton have been closely watching Hoffenheim striker Mark Uth for some time.

It emerged recently that the Premier League pair are keen on the hitman, with eyes being cast towards a potential bid to take him away from the Bundesliga.

Uth has admitted he knows about the interest, however Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann has warned Spurs and Southampton that he is not ready to allow the striker to move on, setting the pair up for disappointment.

But in a sign that Spurs and Southampton's interest is serious, it has been claimed Uth has long been on their radar.

Indeed, according to German daily Bild, Spurs and Southampton have been monitoring Uth for some time, assessing his qualities and suitability.

Uth was injured for part of the first half of the season, however he still proved his worth by managing to score five goals in ten Bundesliga appearances.

With Hoffenheim reluctant to part with the striker midway through the season, Spurs and Southampton may choose to put interest in Uth on ice until the summer transfer window.

Uth, who spent three years in the Netherlands with Heerenveen, has been capped by Germany at Under-20 level.
