Leeds United have a solid position when it comes to keeping Pontus Jansson even if they do not buy him on a permanent basis from Torino this month, it has been claimed.

Jansson is on loan for the season from Torino and Leeds have the right to make his deal permanent for a set price when he makes a set number of appearances.

They are expected to do it this month, but even if not, it has been suggested Leeds are in a strong position and not vulnerable to other clubs stealing in to buy the impressive Swede.

Indeed, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, other clubs can only move to sign Jansson if Leeds choose not to take up their option at the end of the season.

Leeds are not expected to wait that long to keep Jansson though, with a deal widely expected to be sealed in the current window.

Jansson turned out in the FA Cup on Monday night against Cambridge United, but he picked up a booking in the 2-1 win and now has a two-match suspension kicking in.

As a result the centre-back will miss Leeds' home match against Derby County on Friday night and then their trip to Barnsley on 21st January.

So far he has made 21 appearances for Leeds, with the 22nd game the one tipped to trigger the buying option.
