Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy has hailed Dele Alli and explained his view that the midfielder has the ability to achieve great things, but must remain focused and keep learning.

Alli has been phenomenal for Spurs this season and has scored seven goals in his last four Premier League games.

During his breakthrough season at White Hart Lane in 2015/16, the 20-year-old scored ten goals and had 11 assists to his name in 46 appearances in all competitions.

He has already surpassed his goal tally of last season and has become Tottenham’s second highest goalscorer this season.

Murphy has lauded Alli, but said that the England international needs to keep himself focused in order to reach great heights.

"He now has to make sure that he continues to learn from the coaches at Spurs – he’s clearly learned a lot from Mauricio Pochettino – and he needs to maintain his discipline and desire”, Murphy was quoted as saying by the club website.

“There is no end to how far he can go with his ability”, added the 39-year-old.

Alli has scored 11 goals this season in addition to providing four assists for his team-mates in 26 appearances in all competitions.

He will be eyeing making a significant contribution when Tottenham welcome West Brom to White Hart Lane on Saturday.
