Rangers boss Mark Warburton says he loves the flexibility new signing Jon Toral, who has landed at Ibrox from Arsenal, adds to his squad.

The Gers announced the signing of the youngster on a season-long loan deal on Thursday, making him their second signing of the January transfer window.

Praising the Arsenal contracted player, the manager said that the Spaniard is expected to give him extra flexibility as he can play Toral in any number of positions.

With Niko Kranjcar absent for the season with injury, the 54-year-old manager feels that Toral will be able to perform the number ten role behind the striker, besides also showing similar skills while playing wide right or wide left.

Comparisons were drawn by Warburton with young winger Barrie McKay, who also provides similar options and is one of the prized assets for the team.

“I love the flexibility. Look at Barrie McKay, he is comfortable at seven, ten, eleven; he can play across the front there quite effortlessly", Warburton said at a press conference.

“Jon as well, I think his best position is probably the ten, in behind the striker.

"He can also play wide right, wide left, he can play eight, so we have that flexibility and the options to look at.

“So we’re delighted with that but there is no doubt he’s a quality act and I hope the Ibrox crowd are looking forward to seeing him play."

The youngster spent time at Barcelona's youth academy before being snapped up by Arsenal in 2011.
