Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has revealed that Eunan O’Kane is itching to get back into the scheme of things for Garry Monk’s team.

The Yorkshire giants snapped up the Ireland international in the summer from Bournemouth and he played a key role in Leeds’ resurgence this season before succumbing to a groin injury in late-November.

The midfielder returned to the first team squad against Cambridge United in the FA Cup earlier this week, but remained an unused substitute in his side’s win at the Abbey Stadium.

Gray is pleased to see the midfielder has recovered from the injury as he believes O’Kane was one of the best players in the Leeds team before getting injured earlier in the season.

And he revealed that the former Bournemouth man is desperate to get back on to the pitch for Leeds again in the coming days.

The former Whites star told LUTV: “Eunan O’Kane I thought was playing terrific before his injury and was probably the mainstay in the midfield area.

“He is getting back to fitness and I watched him last night [Monday night] after the game, doing a bit of extra training and he just past and said, ‘I am ready.’

“So he will be looking to getting back into the fold.”

O’Kane is expected to feature in the matchday squad when Leeds host Derby County at Elland Road on Friday evening.
