Adnan Januzaj’s agent has confirmed Lyon’s interest in his client, but has indicated that the final decision on the Belgian’s future will be taken by Manchester United.

Manchester United loaned out the 21-year-old winger to Sunderland in the summer after his development stalled at Old Trafford and Januzaj has been getting regular football at the Stadium of Light.

Lyon are interested in the signing the Belgian on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the current transfer window and have been consulting with former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to get more information about the player.

Dirk de Vries, the player’s agent, admits that he has held talks with the Ligue 1 outfit over a deal, but insisted that Manchester United have said nothing about selling the player for the moment.

He told Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws: “Lyon spoke with us and we listened.

“The decision must be made by Manchester United and the club have not said that they want to sell Adnan.”

Januzaj has found the back of the net just once this season and has only one assist to his name for Sunderland.

His current contract with Manchester United runs until the end of next season.
