Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl is in no doubt that Andreas Christensen has what it takes to do well in the first team at Chelsea.

The Danish defender is coming into the final stretch of a two-year loan at the Bundesliga side from Chelsea and he has continued his progression in the Bundesliga.

Gladbach have made noises over wanting to sign Christensen on a permanent basis, but understand how tough convincing Chelsea to part with the promising defender will be.

Eberl says Gladbach will only assess the situation in March or April, but he has little doubt if Christensen does return to Stamford Bridge then he can have an impact.

"As of now, Andreas' loan with us ends after two years", Eberl was quoted as saying by RevierSport.

"He certainly has what it takes to play a good role at Chelsea.

"However, a decision on how to proceed with it will not be made until March or April."

Christensen missed three Bundesliga games with a thigh strain earlier this season, but when fit is a regular starter for Gladbach.

He has made a total of 58 appearances for the German side since joining on loan, also chipping in with four goals along the way.

Christensen also tasted the Champions League this season, turning out in four of his side's group stage matches.
