Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has provided updates on Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez’s fitness following his side’s 4-0 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

Giroud again found the back of the net as he gave Gunners the lead in the first half at the Liberty Stadium, but Wenger admits that the Frenchman was playing with an injury half-an-hour into the game.

The striker was subbed off at the hour mark and Arsenal manager conceded that he has an ankle injury, but didn’t reveal how long his compatriot will be out due to the setback.

Wenger insisted that there are no concerns regarding Sanchez, who was taken off in the 79th minute, and stressed that he replaced the Chilean only because he felt there is no need to risk him staying on the pitch as the game was won.

The Arsenal boss said on the BBC's Final Score programme: "Olivier Giroud did well again and he was important for us.

“He had an ankle injury after 30, 35 minutes and got to 60 minutes.

"Alexis Sanchez is not injured, he just wanted to stay on the pitch.

"I did not want to take a gamble on him."

Arsenal fans will be hoping that the duo will be back in the squad when their side host Burnley in the Premier League next Sunday.
