West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has insisted that he would rather talk about his players who beat Crystal Palace than waste more words on Dimitri Payet.

Payet has been left out of the first team squad and has been banished after he refused to play for the club. The midfielder is angling for a transfer back to France with Marseille.

The Frenchman’s absence wasn’t felt on Saturday afternoon when the Hammers scored a convincing 3-0 win over Palace at the London Stadium and further moved away from the drop zone with another three points in their kitty.

Bilic admits that it was important that he came out clearly about the situation involving Payet earlier this week, but stressed that he doesn’t want to talk about it anymore.

He feels his players deserve more of his time and words than Payet, who doesn’t want to play for West Ham.

The West Ham boss told the BBC: "I said very openly what I said. It needed to be said and to be fair now I don't want to talk about it.

“I can talk for ages about the guys who play, they deserved it."

It remains to be seen whether West Ham can force Payet to continue in east London or eventually give in to the player’s demands and sell him in the current transfer window.
