Liverpool are keen on Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi, but face opposition from a whole host of Serie A sides for the 22-year-old, while Juventus hold an option to buy they may activate in the summer window.

The Merseyside giants made a profit in the summer transfer window last year and it is unclear whether they will spend this month as Jurgen Klopp holds off his chequebook despite the Reds being involved in a tussle for the Premier League title.

Berardi though is firmly on Liverpool's radar, according to Italian daily Gazzetta di Modena, and more likely for the summer as Sassuolo have ruled out a departure this month.

The Reds will not have a clear run at the striker however as Inter are alive to his talents and are actively monitoring developments, while AC Milan and Fiorentina are also admirers.

It is Juventus though who are in pole position if they want Berardi, as they boast a purchase option they can activate in the summer, set at the €25m mark.

Juventus may not choose to use the option and take the 22-year-old to Turin, but should they activate it, the Sassuolo hitman would be on his way to the Italian champions.

Berardi has struggled with injuries this season, missing 15 of Sassuolo's Serie A matches with a knee issue.

He recently returned to action, coming off the bench for 18 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Torino.
