West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has told Dimitri Payet that no player is bigger than the club, after he fired the Hammers to a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at the London Stadium.

Payet was not involved against the Eagles after refusing to play for the club and demanding a move away, but Carroll did play and was superb for the home side throughout, being a threat Palace could not cope with.

West Ham did have to wait until the 68th minute to take the lead through Sofiane Feghouli, who converted from close range in the 68th minute.

Carroll then netted a superb mid-air volley with eleven minutes left, hitting the ball with his left foot and seeing it fly past the Palace goalkeeper and into the top corner.

Manuel Lanzini killed off any hopes of a Palace comeback with a classy chip in the 86th minute as West Ham took all three points minus Payet.

And Carroll says the Hammers can now look upwards.

"With the quality we've got the only way to look is up and that's what we're going to concentrate on", he said on the BBC's Final Score programme.

The striker also insists that West Ham are much bigger than one player in the light of Payet's absence.

"I don't think any player is bigger than the club and I think that's what the lads believe, the manager and all the staff, and all the fans.

"I think we showed we're a tight group, came together and got the three points", Carroll added.
