Dimitri Payet's wife and children have already left London to return to Marseille, something which will further fuel speculation the West Ham United midfielder is set to follow soon.

The France international has made clear to West Ham that he wishes to leave the club and does not want to turn out for the Hammers, something which means he is currently not under consideration by manager Slaven Bilic.

Payet is wanted by former club Marseille, but West Ham have made clear they do not intend to sell him in this month's transfer window – as such there is a standoff.

The creative schemer appears to be confident he will get a move to the Stade Velodrome however, as according to SFR Sport, his wife and children have already departed London for Marseille.

The next step in the saga is expected to see Marseille's president fly to London on Monday for talks with his West Ham counterparts.

Payet joined West Ham from Marseille in the summer of 2015 and wasted no time in turning on the style in the Premier League, quickly establishing himself as a firm fan favourite and being awarded a new and improved contract.

His form even led to a recall to the France national team and Payet was included in his country's squad for Euro 2016 last summer.
