New Leeds United co-owner Andrea Radrizzani is not obsessing over the Whites winning promotion to the Premier League quickly and insists the most important thing for him is to put a long term plan in place.

Leeds did not start the current campaign amongst the favourites to win promotion from the Championship, but a solid season so far has Garry Monk's men sitting third in the table and fans dreaming of life back in the Premier League.

Radrizzani has just bought 50 per cent of the club from chairman Massimo Cellino, but he is calm over Leeds winning promotion and insists he is young enough to wait for the moment to arrive.

The Italian insists he is ambitious, however at present he wants to ensure Leeds grow in a sustainable way and put in place proper planning.

Asked on LUTV if he has a target for the club to get back into the Premier League in mind, Radrizzani replied: "I hope soon, but I don't have a timeline. I'm still pretty young, but I'm ambitious.

"So I have time to wait for this moment to come.

"But also I give as the priority the sustainability of the growth and the club.

"It can come early or not, it doesn't matter, but we need to be a solid club with a long term plan", he added.

Leeds are eight points clear of seventh placed Derby in the Championship, meaning they are in pole position to at least lock down a spot in the playoffs.

Now the Yorkshire giants are aiming to reel in Brighton and Newcastle United, who sit six and seven points ahead, respectively, inside the automatic promotion places.
