Lyon midfielder Jordan Ferri says his side will roll out the red carpet for Memphis Depay, if the Dutchman makes the move from Manchester United.

Les Gones are holding talks with Manchester United in a bid to sign Depay, however their first offer was rejected as the Red Devils are seeking to realise the maximum possible fee for the Dutchman.

Boss Jose Mourinho has insisted he is happy for Depay to stay put if no agreement can be reached, despite the Portuguese rarely handing the winger playing time this season.

Ferri is encouraged simply by the fact that Lyon are chasing Depay and says if they do land him, he will be welcomed with open arms by the French club.

"Lyon are an ambitious club, with the infrastructure of a top European club. It is nice to see that Lyon have the ability to invest in players like Depay – that can only be good for the development of the team and the club", the midfielder told Foot Mercato.

"If he wants to come to Lyon, then we will give him a warm welcome; we always do when other new players come.

"As he can add something to the team, it is only a positive."

Manchester United beat off competition from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain to sign Depay from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2015.

He has however struggled to make his mark in the competitive Premier League and is now tipped to leave Old Trafford this month.

Lyon have admitted Depay is a priority target this month.
