West Ham United have let Marseille know they value Dimitri Payet at €34m, it has been claimed.

Marseille's president and sporting director met West Ham officials in a high level meeting in London on Monday, but saw their bid for Payet swatted away as not good enough by the Premier League side.

After initially vowing Payet would not be sold, West Ham have now come round to the idea of selling the midfielder and, according to French daily Le Parisien, have let Marseille know his asking price is €34m.

The ball is now in Marseille's court to respond and meet the figure if they want to take Payet to the Stade Velodrome.

Payet has told West Ham he no longer wishes to play for them as he seeks to force an exit and is training with the Under-23 squad.

Hammers co-chairman David Sullivan was clear at the weekened that the club will not sell Payet in the winter transfer window, but he appears willing to backtrack from those words for the right price.
